UI and Lottery should not mix

It seems inappropriate to me that the University of Iowa Athletics Department would license the use of its esteemed trademarks to the Iowa Lottery for a commercial. The lottery doesn’t represent the sort of Iowa values the university should want to be associated with.

Perhaps it is prophetic that the central character of the Iowa Lottery commercial, portrayed as a buffoon, sits in Carver Hawkeye at a basketball game, oblivious to the basketball game and caring only about winning money.

You have to ask yourself if the $14,000 fee to the university was worth it.
