Earthpark coming to County

The $155 million Iowa Environmental Project known as Earth Park will call Marion County its home. The announcement was made by former Gov. Robert Ray, Chairman of the Board, at a conference in Grinnell yesterday afternoon.

In all, The Point at Red Rock project won the board's vote 12-3-1 over Riverside, the other finalist for the project.

Earth Park will feature an indoor rain forest and promises educational opportunities for people of all ages. It is said the park, which hopes to break ground next summer and be completed by 2010, should bring over 300,000 tourists to the area annually once it is in operation.
