Re: Assignments; Distribution Procedures

1. Distribution via Web and e-mail. Based on the show of hands last evening, I am operating on the assumption that the easiest way for both you and I to communicate (and clearly the most expeditious) is the use of the Internet/Web page and e-mail. (To remind: the Web page for the class is at:

and my e-mail address is: 1035393@mcimail.com)

[The Web page now links to country lists (by country and by associate) so those of you who haven't yet picked one can see what's available -- the original January 8 memo, a firm roster -- and, of greatest significance, the assignments for this coming week.]

2. It's up to you. If this is not true in your case (i.e., if you have not yet developed the skills necessary to find and use a Web page), it's up to you to let me know that. I am quite willing to send you the Web pages by e-mail if you'd prefer, or even to download them and print them out for you and put them in your mail folder. This is your call. I think, for your sake, the more comfortable you can become with the Web and e-mail the better for you not only for this class but for your future. But far more important is that you have the materials necessary to the seminar.

3. Assignment sheet. Most immediately, there is at our Web site (just a clear click away from the seminar "home page") a page of assignments applicable to the January 16-21 time frame. It is important that you get access to this as soon as possible. Although it is quite a list of items, a close reading will disclose there's only one that should take any time.

4. Note for absentees only: We (your classmates, Rita Jansen, I) need to know as soon as possible if you are planning on taking the seminar or not. We've already moved quite a distance down the road (or "across the ocean"). It's possible to catch up at this point, but you need to see me or Ms. Jansen immediately.
