Douglas J. Frederick's Bookmarks
for the Cyberspace law Seminar Spring 1998.
As far as pursuing a topic, I have decided that my dissertation is going
to examine on-line promotion/public relations and marketing. Thus, I think
it would be beneficial to have an understanding of legal issues involved.
I have narrowed my topic down to a few different options:
1. My first choice is to examine Unsolicited e-mail and SPAMMING. Please
see the sites listed below.
2. My second choice would be to examine Advertising Law on the internet
- for example when promoting dietary supplements does this fall under FTC
or FDA regulation. See http://venable.com/govern/netpromo.htm
3. My third choice is examining advertising of Alcohol and Tobacco on
the internet - should the regulations pretaining to television and radio
apply to the internet?
I have put together this list of sites which I have discovered by "surfing"
the web. The Mega General Research Sites are basically search engines.
The Mega Legal Research Sites are either searchable sites or linked resource
sites for legal issues and law topics. The Cyberlaw section provides links
to sites that discuss cyberlaw and are linked to other cyberlaw sites.
The rest of the sites contained in Cyber-Marketing Sites, Advertising
and Commerce Sites and E-mail marketing and Spam sites have been bookmarked
because this is the area that I choose to explore for my topic area. I
have found the most help in locating resources by using AltaVista ,
Findlaw , Cyberspace
Law for Non-Lawyers , Electronic
Marketing Update , Advertising
Law Internet Site , and just following links from other sites.
