Why do I support Rod Sullivan?

• There are all the local organizations he has worked with or otherwise supported: a list as long as your arm.

• There are his leadership and numerous accomplishments as Chair of the board of Supervisors.

• I could talk about his wonderful family, his wife, Dr. Melissa Fath, and their children.

The most important reason why I support Sullivan is because of his basic decency as a human being.

It may sound corny, but it's true. Sullivan's every action comes from the core of his being: his sensitivity to others, his sincerity, his commitment to the public's best interests, his intelligence and curiosity, his vision, his ability to really listen to others, his religious and family values.

I've known presidents, and I've known school board members. And I can tell you, Sullivan is, in my book, one of the most decent, the most worthy, public officials I've ever known of the whole lot.

He may disappoint me someday, but he never has so far and I'm willing to bet it's very unlikely he ever will.
